The solar market stood in first place in deal activity with 111 deals in September 2017, followed by wind sector with 72 deals. North America registered a decrease in the number of deals and an increase in deal value with 75 deals worth US$44.1 billion in September 2017, compared to 89 deals worth US$30.2 billion in August 2017. Mergers and acquisitions (M&As) in the power industry registered a decrease in the number of deals and an increase in deal value with 34 deals worth US$38.5 billion in September 2017, as compared to 42 deals worth US$18.1 billion in August 2017. Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC, Lazard Ltd, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays Plc and Credit Suisse Group AG each reported four deals worth US$32.1 billion, US$7.7 billion, US$7.4 billion, US$6 billion and US$3.1 billion respectively between April 2017 and September 2017.
